Aligning Staff for Growth

Are you making the most of your staff?

The greatest assets of any business are the people you work with – but only if they are performing consistently and well. Aligning staff for growth means taking your business to the next level. Sharing your business plans and goals with your employees can be extremely advantageous. It will motivate those who are willing to work at improving their own performance and help you identify employees who will hold you back.

Get your team heading in the same direction

Communication is fundamental to any relationship and only brings benefits. At the end of the day, you can’t expect someone to be driven if they don’t know the road they’re supposed to be taking!

Share your views, goals and aspirations for your business with your employees. Tell them where you expect the business to be in six months or a year’s time. The more they know about what you want from the business, the easier it is for them to help you achieve these objectives.

As well as synergising the team, being open with your staff shows transparency, honesty and makes them feel valued. It may also provide them with ideas or information on how they could progress their careers while remaining in your employ. When you don’t need to deal with staff recruitment, you can focus on other aspects of your business such as growth and profitability.

Two heads are better than one

Be open to suggestions. When you share your goals or challenges with your staff, they may be able to provide insights that are vastly different to your own. Any situation can be better understood when seen from a different perspective and you never know, your team may have a few brilliant ideas that you haven’t thought of!

If your staff feel like they are an important part of your business, they are more likely to want to see it expand and flourish.

Loyalty

During these team discussions you will have the opportunity to observe the reactions of your staff. People who are full of ideas and input will clearly be showing their motivation and loyalty to you and the business. Whereas those who sit back and show little interest may not be giving their all for your business and could potentially be the deadweight that will impair your success.
